Correspondence regarding Shaw's study and practice of law; letters from his son, Lemuel Shaw, Jr., constituting a journalistic account of a trip to Europe (1852-53) and including references to his association with Abbott Laurence, Jr., tours of colleges at Oxford, and social gatherings given by George Peabody; papers (1839-52) concerning Shaw's private interests; a journal (1859-61) of his activities written by a member of his household; a draft of Shaw's farewell address to the Massachusetts Bar, and their testament to him upon his retirement in 1860.
